More capacity | Scottish craft brewery BrewDog PLC has ordered the next lauter tun brewhouse from Ziemann Holvrieka GmbH, Ludwigsburg, Germany. With the new brewhouse the brewery will be able to produce up to 12 brews per day, each with 500 hl of cold wort.

Malt in a hand

The German Purity Law of 1516 already proves that the mixture of hops, malt, yeast and water guarantees good taste and made beer famous worldwide. This is also the case in Brazil. This is where one of the world's largest green field malt production plants is currently being built. A cooperative made up of several companies, including Cooperativa Agrária, is relying here on the technologies of plant manufacturer Zeppelin Systems, based on the know-how to supply complete plants for malt production for more than one decade.

Tetra Laval, the group which comprises Tetra Pak, Sidel and DeLaval is donating an additional EUR 8 million to humanitarian aid in Ukraine and relief efforts in Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania (excluding Russia and Belorussia).

For over ten years, the American Fiddlehead Brewing Company near Burlington, Vermont, has been brewing and selling specialty wheat beers, pilsners, and Indian Pale Ales. In the US, the brewery is renowned for its craft beer range and its commitment to the community and the environment. Now, Fiddlehead is once again highlighting this reputation with a PUEHLER drainage press that optimizes the recycling process of its canned beer.

Innovations in new products, services, and applications resulted in even stronger market positions of the global technology company Bühler. The company grew order intake by 16 percent, to more than CHF 3 billion. Thanks to its strong global production, supply, and service network, Bühler was able to secure timely deliveries to customers even under difficult conditions. At the same time, Bühler further improved its financial stability with improvements in the net liquidity and the equity ratio. “Our engaged employees in our strong global network allowed us to prove our reliability to our customers and partners. And we clearly strengthened our innovation power,” says Bühler CEO Stefan Scheiber.

Brewing and hop professionals all over the world value the guide for its comprehensive documentation of the quality of the most recent hop crop. Combined expertise| In the future KHS and Ferrum will further intensify their cooperation. “Our machines are already very well coordinated with one another. However, we want to offer our customers even more integrated systems,” states Marc Zubler, head of Sales and Product Management at Ferrum. Manfred Härtel, filling technology product manager at KHS, nods in agreement and adds that this also applies to the extensive range of consultancy and other services, where the two partners aim to function even more strongly as a unit in the years to come.

Strengthening capabilities | Bucher Unipektin announced in January they are acquiring 100 % of the Czech company Denwel, a supplier of specialised cold block equipment to breweries. With the acquisition, the supplier of beer filtration systems further strengthens its beer processing capabilities and technologies.

Emission-free | In December 2021, Holland Malt has started the realisation of a completely emission-free malthouse in Eemshaven, province of Groningen. Thanks to a new, innovative heat system, the malting process no longer uses fossil fuels, biomass or other energy sources that cause harmful emissions. With this, the malthouse is taking a big step in its energy transition. The system that is to ensure this transition will be fully operational in 2024.
