“Beer comes from Brewing”

Promoting exchange | With the upcoming EBC Congress the European Brewery Convention will again provide a platform for brewers and technologists to present and discuss their latest findings. Having been to Belgium twice before, this year’s congress will return there and take place at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center Antwerp (FMCCA) in downtown Antwerp from June 2 - 6 2019. BRAUWELT International spoke with Tiago Brandão, EBC President, and John Brauer, EBC Executive Officer, about the event and the changes to the programme reflecting new developments in the world of brewing.

After a successful event in Mechelen last year, the eighth edition of the world-renowned Brussels Beer Challenge will be held in the city of Mons from 1 November to 3 November 2019.

The next meeting of the Scientific-Technical Commission of the International Hop Growers’ Convention, I.H.G.C. will be held from 7-11 July 2019 in the Conference Center ‘Le Bischenberg’ in Bischoffsheim, Alsace, France.

Messe München with its subsidiary Messe München do Brasil won the bidding for a new trade fair for the food-, beverage-and packaging-industries: INTECHTRA will be held for the first time from September 29 till October 2, 2020.

Feira Brasileira da Cerveja, which is part of the Beviale Family since 2018, is set to welcome the Brazilian beer sector to Blumenau from 13 to 15 March 2019.

drink technology India (dti), the most important event for India's beverage and liquid food industry, has been postponed at the request of the exhibitors. The trade fair will now take place from April 10 to 12, 2019. The Bangalore International Expo Centre will remain the exhibition venue. The second event date of dti in 2019, in New Delhi, remains unchanged.

The fair had been planned for the end of February (Feb. 28 to Mar. 3) in Bangalore and is mainly aimed at Indian exhibitors and visitors. It has now been postponed following close consultation with the industry.

Numerous Indian exhibitors had requested that the event not be held at the planned date. Background to this are the production cycles and the annual statement of accounts of the companies that tie up the workforce during this period. Accordingly, the number of registrations for the new date has remained virtually unchanged: around 95 percent of the Indian exhibitors who had already registered will also attend the new date. The international companies will also remain loyal to the event in April.

On 3 and 4 June 2019, Europe’s brewers will gather in Antwerp, Belgium.

From October 8th to 13th, Santiago will be all set to host Santiago Beer Week, welcoming beers and participants from all Latin America.

drinktec worldwide – Tailor Made Trade Fairs for Local Industries

Global network | 2018 comes under the banner of drinktec worldwide. The network comprises several events all around the world. food & drink technology Africa (fdt) will get things started in September in Johannesburg. A short time later, in October, China Brew China Beverage (CBB) and drink technology India (dti) will be held almost simultaneously, in Shanghai and Mumbai respectively. As preparations are moving forward at full speed, Petra Westphal, Exhibition Group Director Messe München, speaks with BRAUWELT International Editor-in-Chief Dr. Lydia Junkersfeld about the features of the network and what visitors can expect at the three fairs.

The workshop will take place on October 5th and 6th, 2018 in Bariloche, Argentina. It is organized by IPATEC (Andean Patagonian Institute of Biological and Geoenvironmental Technologies) and being supported by national and international scientific societies including the American Society for Brewing Chemists (ASBC).
