The Brewers Association (BA) announced the results of one of the largest commercial beer competitions to date, the 2016 World Beer Cup. The awards were presented at the conclusion of Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America® in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The 2016 Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America (May 3-6, Philadelphia) saw more attendees (13,600) and exhibitors (835) than ever. Atop the Rocky steps, more than 6,000 conference-goers gathered at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to enjoy the fine arts while savoring the fruits of the craft community’s creative endeavors.

At the Craft Brewers Conference in Portland, Ziemann Holvrieka performed a competition in which various prizes were drawn. The first prize was the technological advice by a Ziemann “brew doc”.

Beer Attraction 2016, an Italian trade event focusing on beer specialties and craft beers, took place from 20-23 Fabruary 2016 in Rimini, Italy.

Dr. Adrian Forster and Andreas Gahr are the first winners of the Ludwig Narziß Award for Brewing Science. On Thursday, 12 November 2015, Professor Ludwig Narziß himself presented the award during BrauBeviale to the two brewing scientists for their contribution "A Comparison of the Analytical and Brewing Characteristics of Cascade and Comet Hop Varieties as grown in Yakima (USA) and in Hallertau (Germany)", published in BrewingScience no. 67 (2014), pp. 137-148.

With a grand total of 1,957 beers (previous year: 1,613) from 45 countries and all continents, this year more beers than ever before were submitted to the European Beer Star competition. It took the 115-member international jury two days to complete the blind taste test at the world-renowned beer competition.

The Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) has presented its prestigious Cambridge Prize to a talented young brewing scientist working for SABMiller UK.

The Board of The Brewers of Europe meeting on 3 November 2015 in Brussels has endorsed the nomination by the European Brewery Convention of Mr. Tiago Monteiro Brandão as successor to Dr. Stefan Lustig for the next EBC president.

With its 2015 Brewery Award of Excellence, the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA) recognizes outstanding achievements by a single brewery in the development and implementation of an innovative process (or processes) that supports environmental sustainability in brewing.

“Best practice”: this was the motto of the seminar held by GEA Group and Bühler AG in Nigeria. All renowned Nigerian breweries attended this event which took place in late September. The 30 participants gained information about new technologies and solutions in the brewing process and their integration into existing plants. The main emphasis was on lowering energy costs significantly and permanently as well as increasing yield simultaneously.
