Multicoloured PET bottles suitable for conventional machines

The plastic packaging specialist GIZEH has succeeded in manufacturing multicolour PET bottles on conventional stretch blow moulding machines. For the first time, a conventional two-stage stretch blow moulding plant was equipped with infrared heating in such a way that perfect results could be obtained with the blanks. Up to now these special preforms could only be processed on stretch blow moulding machines with microwave heating. Even heating of the different colour components was only considered to be feasible with this special heating system.

The new PET bottles are based on innovative multi-component blanks (so-called “preforms”) which were developed by Inotech Kunststoff GmbH, a GIZEH partner company in Nabburg, Germany. For the first time, the bottles can now be blown in attractive colour combinations or be realized in transparency and colour combinations. Handling elements such as, for instance, soft or anti-slide gripping zones are currently under development. If desired, an antibacterial inner wall coating can be added to increase the shelf life of the filled product. Furthermore, brand and product protection can be improved through hidden injected security pigments.
