Six TetraPak filling lines, three PET bottling lines and two glass bottling lines have been installed at Linea Nivnice, producer of fruit juices and syrups, baby food and spirits in the Czech Republic. Linea Nivnice is now labelling their increasingly popular PET containers with film labels instead of paper labels. Labelling is performed with two roll-fed machines from Gernep, a Bavarian specialist for this labelling technique.

Döhler (Doehler) has developed a new range of "brown" flavours, ranging from chocolate, cocoa, nut, nougat and coffee through to caramel and vanilla. Each of these flavours is available in a diverse range of nuances. In addition to extracts and natural flavours, the global ingredient producer also offers a number of compositional flavours. "Going with the taste of the times!" was the motto guiding the development of the new flavour range.

Holvrieka Holding B.V., a subsidiary of CIMC Enric Holdings Ltd., is pleased to announce the successful completion of the takeover of the Ziemann operations in Ludwigsburg/Germany and the manufacturing facilities in Bürgstadt/Germany as well as of the sales offices in Miami/USA, Johannesburg/South Africa, Moscow/Russia, Bangkok/Thailand, Hanoi/Vietnam and Sydney/Australia. These activities will be merged into a new company named “Ziemann International GmbH” registered inLudwigsburg/Germany which is fully owned by Holvrieka Holding B.V. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality regarding the purchase price.

To enable brewers to concentrate solely on their actual brewing process, Krones has for decades now been supporting the breweries with complete systems for the entire beer production process: from raw-materials reception on to the brewhouse, then the fermentation and storage cellars and the bottling hall, plus packaging, intralogistics and full-coverage automation – single-sourced throughout.

Big events cast a long shadow as they approach. This year, Messe München International is involved in the organization of trade fairs such as China Brew and Beverage (CBB) to be held in September (September 19th - 22nd, 2012) in Peking, China as well as drink technology India (dti) planned for November (November 6th - 8th, 2012 in Mumbai, India). These two events will offer a preview of the drinktec, which will take place from September 16th - 20th 2013 in Munich, Germany. BRAUWELT International took this opportunity to interview Petra Westphal, project group leader at Messe München responsible for drinktec, dti and CBB.

For those who have not heard it yet, this year is the 150th anniversary of the founding of Coopers Brewery by Thomas Cooper. That in itself would be a remarkable feat of achievement, were it not topped by the fact that Coopers is still family-run and family-owned. In our time and age when brewers are gobbled up by the big corporates right, left and centre, Coopers has managed to defend its independence tooth and nail while raising its popularity among Australia’s consumers.
