The Glycemic Index of beverages

There has been a growing concern in recent years about poor nutrition and overconsumption in western industrial nations as well as among more affluent groups in developing nations and emerging industrial nations. This has led to health problems in these populations, which must be taken very seriously. Many concepts have been developed to address this problem; one of the best known is the glycemic index, a measure based on the carbohydrate composition of a food.
