New Flottweg beer clarifier

Flottweg has launched the beer clarifier AC2500. Flottweg Disc Stack Centrifuges have mainly been used in medium-sized breweries. Using the „small“ Flottweg beer clarifier of the AC-series, it is possible to process a maximum of 130 hl of beer per hour. After the successful launch of the small centrifuge, it stood to reason to satisfy the demands of big breweries. Flottweg’s most recent development, the beer clarifier AC2500, makes this possible with a machine capacity of up to 600 hectoliters per hour.

The clarifier can be used flexibly for pre-clarification before filtration, green-beer clarification and for turbidity adjustment in case of cloudy beer, such us wheat beer.

Its main characteristic is the SoftShot® bowl discharge system. Due to centrifugal force, yeast is separated from the beer and collected in the solids chamber of the bowl. The system recognizes automatically, via turbidity measurement, when the solids chamber is completely full. During operation, yeast is discharged from the bowl of the disc stack centrifuge in a compact form. Using the centrifuge, the discharge procedure is hardly audible even in close proximity to the machine. This offers an advantage for the operator, the product, and the centrifuge itself ensuring for its longer life span.

Continuous and gentle processing with no negative effect on beer quality is possible with Flottweg separators. In order to keep the impact of shear forces to a minimum, the feed system, valves and the discharge system of the beer clarifier AC 2500 have been optimized. Hydrohermetic sealing prevents oxygen absorption. For most optimum results, degased water is recommended. Above the product chamber a seal water ring is formed with a submersed impeller, therefore oxygen cannot penetrate the bowl. Compared to mechanical sealing systems there is no wear and no need for water cooling.
