VLB Berlin validates new beer analysis system

The VLB Berlin’s Central Laboratory (ZL) gives producers of measuring instruments the chance to have their new developments and advancements validated. Anton Paar GmbH from Austria once again uses this opportunity for their new beer analysis system.

The objective of the Central Laboratory evaluation is to investigate whether the measurements with the new beer analysis system comply with MEBAK and EBC standards and meet the requirements of the beverage industry. The system is subjected to the test application “beverage analysis directly out of the package” and subsequently validated, given that all parameters are satisfactory. The same sample products are analyzed independently using the new system and a reference system. The values obtained in this way are compared and then statistically evaluated. “The number of the samples is at least at three digits”, explains Dr. Harms, supervisor of the Central Laboratory. The ultimate goal is to integrate the new application into analytical guidelines such as Analytica EBC and the MEBAK volumes.

The standard version of the beer analysis system from Anton Paar consists of a density meter with an Alcolyzer Beer. Optional extensions include measurements of turbidity, O2, CO2, beer color and the pH value; an automatic sample changer is also available. The Packaged Beverage Analyzer for Beer measures CO2 content directly from the package. The advantage of this system is that all parameters (up to seven) can be determined in parallel, in approx. 5 minutes, from a single package, without any prior preparation or degassing. This saves valuable labor time.
