Esau & Hueber acquires Nerb know-how
As already published in BRAUWELT International No 4 2011, Esau & Hueber, a subsidiary of Germany’s Bauer Group and a specialist in cold block process technology with worldwide acceptance for wort aeration and yeast management systems, has acquired the know-how of Nerb, a global supplier of brewhouses since 1970 and located in Freising near Munich.
The acquisition, which was completed at the end of July 2011, allows Esau & Hueber to expand its product portfolio of innovative systems in brewery technology and become a global supplier to the brewing and beverage industries with services including the planning, engineering and construction of turnkey brewery projects.
Both parties agreed not to disclose price information.
Esau & Hueber has bought the Nerb brand, its technological brewhouse know-how, its customer base and automation software, better known as Winbrew. These had become available when Nerb ceased trading.
Christoph Sedlaczek, Managing Partner of Esau & Hueber, and Hans Nerb, Managing Partner of Nerb, agreed that combining their expertise would make Esau & Hueber a key technology supplier in the beer sector, capable of producing industrial scale brewhouses from 25 hl to 250 hl per brew plus pilot plants from 0.5 hl to 10 hl per brew.
Mr Nerb has retired from his day-to-day duties but will stay on for at least two years as a consultant.
