Henrike Vorwerk succeeds Frank Rath

After the current Head of the VLB Research Institute for Raw Materials (FIR), Prof. Dr. Frank Rath, announced his retirement for the end of 2017 last summer, the succession has now been resolved. Henrike Vorwerk, research associate at the FIR since 2009, will take over the leadership of the institute in 2018.

The search for a successor to the management position at the Research Institute for Raw Materials at VLB Berlin has ended. The state-certified food chemist Henrike Vorwerk (33), who has been working as a research associate at the FIR, will assume this responsibility from 1 January 2018. Born in the Münsterland she studied food chemistry at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. After completing her academic education at the State and Veterinary Inspectorate (CVUA) Münster, she joined the VLB in 2009. As a research associate of Prof. Dr. Frank Rath, her scientific work has been focused on special analysis and mass spectrometry. Most recently, she played a key role in the successful EBC/Euromalt project to develop and validate a new method for the safe prediction of the gushing potential of malt and beer. A topic that will be the basis of her doctoral thesis next year.
