How it all began – a review
30 years ago, the specialist publisher Fachverlag Hans Carl of Nuremberg launched the English-language magazine BRAUWELT International (BWI), which would supplement its weekly German-language magazine BRAUWELT. At the time, decision makers at the publishing house were reacting to a burgeoning trend in the brewing industry, namely the increasing internationalization of the field. This marked the beginning of a conscious effort at Hans Carl to focus on international beer markets as well as on developments in countries where beer is produced and sold. BRAUWELT editions in Russian, Spanish and Chinese followed. Today, more than 26 000 copies of each issue are published in languages other than German and read the world over. This information reaches the producers of more than 93 percent of world’s beer and is complemented by a constantly updated online service.
