Vizzy or Brizzy: Molson Coors’ launch of Vizzy challenged
USA | Molson Coors’s hard seltzer Vizzy is not even out in the market yet, and already its competitor Future Proof Brands that sells Brizzy hard seltzer has cried foul.
The company based in Austin, Texas, has filed litigation against Molson Coors and its MillerCoors subsidiary, on 6 February 2020, for infringing on Brizzy's federally registered trademark and creating market confusion.
According to Future Proof, many wholesalers and retailers are concerned that the similar-sounding brand names (really?) may cause confusion among consumers. Making matters worse, the two products allegedly also use similar packaging.
The litigation demands to prevent MillerCoors from using the Vizzy name along with some monetary relief.
MillerCoors hopes to launch Vizzy in March.
