Siebel Institute offers Concise Course in Brewing in Spanish

The Siebel Institute of Technology, America’s oldest brewing school, is pleased to announce their first ever Spanish-language course for professional brewers.

From 13 – 24 June 2011 they will offer a two-week World Brewing Academy Concise Course in Brewing Technology in Spanish. The course will be held at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota, Colombia, one of South America’s most respected universities.

The WBA Concise Course will provide students with comprehensive knowledge of the brewing process, the dynamics of brewery operations, and issues affecting the industry. Within the short time span of this course, students will gain a level of technical knowledge that will benefit them in any area of responsibility in the brewery, covering every topic critical to successful brewery operations.

The WBA Concise Course is the perfect course for:

- Employees of breweries who need training in brewing theory

- Brewing industry suppliers

- Beer distributors and wholesalers looking to improve their knowledge of how beer is produced

- Those looking towards entering the brewing industry, including prospective brewery owners

- People preparing for our advanced-level courses like the Associate, Diploma or Master Brewer Programs

- Candidates for the Institute of Brewing and Distilling exams (this course is recognised by the IBD as suitable for those studying for the General Certificate Exam)

Along with other world-class instructors, the course will be supervised and instructed by Hugo Patiño, formerly of Molson Coors.

Mr Patiño has held lead technical posts in the areas of Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Technical Services and Brewing Engineering at Molson Coors Brewing Co. (Colorado) and Cervecería Cuauhtemoc (Mexico).

He also was a faculty member at the University of California-Davis, and the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico). Mr Patiño has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and a B. Eng. from the Monterrey Tech (Mexico).
