Beer and politics

You have to give it to craft brewers, they would not let an opportunity pass to market themselves. On the occasion of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland (18 to 21 July 2016), the local craft brewer Platform Beer Co., in conjunction with retailer Heinen's, will launch a special beer, local media reported on 7 March 2016.

After some soul-searching they decided to brew an American Pale Ale (a Belgian, English or German-style ale did not seem right, ahem). It will be called – not Cash Grab Ale, KlownBus Ale, Yuuuge or Drumpf as some bloggers suggested – but UnconventionAle.

To our knowledge no craft brewer in Philadelphia has come up yet with a special beer to mark the Democratic National Convention, which will be held in the city (25 to 28 July) 2016.
