The comeback of the Irish Coffee

PIANETA BIRRA BEVERAGE AND CO features “Coffee in good spirit”.

The tenth PIANETA BIRRA BEVERAGE & CO., being held at Rimini Fiera from 23 to 26 February 2008 includes numerous initiatives addressing trade members. One of them is the Italian Cafeteria Barista Championship, now in its seventh year.

The brand-new feature of the 2008 Pianeta Birra is the competition, “Coffee in Good Spirit” which, along with the Italian Cafeteria Barista Championship and the Italian Latte Art Championship, will bring forth the various specialities’ national champions, who will compete in the finals with the world’s best baristas in Copenhagen, in June 2008.

The Italian “Coffee in Good Spirit”-Championship is to assess the contestants’ ability to prepare two hot Irish coffees and two other hot beverages, which are to include at least an alcoholic base. This must all be done in eight minutes and the barista has to be as original as possible.

Admission to the competitions, which will be held separately, will only be open to those who have won preliminary competitions currently being held in various Italian locations.
