Pelliconi Group announces the forthcoming opening of its Egyptian subsidiary

Pelliconi, the world-leading Italian manufacturer of metal beverage bottle closures , announces the forthcoming opening of its Egyptian subsidiary, Pelliconi Egypt S.A.E. The new Pelliconi production plant is a joint venture between Pelliconi and Dr. Tarek Massoud, a well known local entrepreneur.

“The aim of our manufacturing presence in Egypt,” says Marco Checchi, Managing Director of the Group, “is to become an active player in the growth of the North African economy and also to have the opportunity to establish our local production on the African Continent. Africa already represents a very important market for Pelliconi which, as a global supplier, has been continuously growing for more than 15 years and today supplies more than 26 billion crown corks to over 100 countries worldwide. ” The brand new Pelliconi Egypt plant is located in the El Obour Industrial area in Cairo

“We will manufacture crowns in Pelliconi Egypt,” continues Mr Checchi, “ according to our well established quality standards; production lines will be the state of the art in the crown manufacturing industry and we will also provide full technical and commercial support from the Italian headquarters in order to guarantee consistency with production coming from the existing Pelliconi plants. We are excited about this new initiative; Pelliconi Egypt will start manufacturing crowns in April 2008 and we are already planning to expand the installed capacity during 2009.”
