Pilsner Urquell International Master Bartender competition 2009: The final
The jury, a panel of beer experts consisting of Alastair Gilmour, beer-journalist writing for food-, beverage- and travel-journals, UK, Ryan Johnson, brewmaster International Brands Division, Miller Brewery, USA, and Václav Berka, senior brewmaster Pilsner Urquell, Plzeňský Prazdroj, Czech Republic awarded the second place to Ivan Simonovic from Slovakia. The third place and the People’s Choice Award went to Maria Abrams from Berlin.
Parade and opening presentation at Brandenburger Tor, roundtable on the Pilsner Urquell terrace at Pariser Square, public beer-drawing competition at Marlene Dietrich Square – the participating bartenders were kept busy all of the time demonstrating their skills.
Their reward waited for them at the Deutsches Historisches Museum, where international business partners and Pilsner Urquell’s guests of honour were looking forward to a spectacular event. In front of an architecturally impressive scenery the host Verena Wriedt and Frank Höhler, chief executive of Pilsner Urquell Germany presented the winners with the awards in the name of the jury.
The competition has been brought into being by the brand Pilsner Urquell four years ago. It dedicates itself to improving the beer-drawing quality and thereby offering a better service to the end consumer. For the first time the final took place in Germany.
