Intrinsically-safe resin dispense head

The demand for a better intrinsically-safe dispense head induced DSI to develop a new dispense head generation – the NDH (New Dispense Head).

Due to the different material the new product characteristically differs from the former dispense heads. Rather than using stainless steel or a similar material it is manufactured with a resin based fiber-glass reinforced polyamide which even fulfills the requirements of the FDA („Food and Drug Administration“ USA). The chosen resin material does not only excel through the weight reduction but also very little absorption of moisture which results in an inelastic structure with yet extremely high strength. The form stability up to 250 °C offers additional cleaning options, i.e. sterilisation.

Despite an overall new conception of the component part that is also reflected in various further details, the original handle position and connecting parts were retained in order to benefit from the recognition factor whilst handling. While the outer surface of the NDH new dispense head shows a raw haptic enabling a secure handling even in moist environment the inner surface was designed with a maximum roughness Ra of ≤ 1,6 µm to eliminate as many microbiological deposits as possible. Additionally the use of resin in cold environments results in more comfortable handling.

Self-acting safety latch

In derogation of the usually used dispense heads the safety latch of the NDH is situated on the left and the right side of the handle. In order to enable easy unlocking to both left- and right-handed people solely one of the both handle sides needs to be pressed however unlocking can also be done by pressing both buttons. In order to fulfill the intrinsic safety request for uncontrolled CO2 escape the handle is pre-stressed by two spring elements which are arranged on both sides of the handle bearing. By loosening the latch at the bottom dead center the grap handle automatically moves into the top dead center for a self-acting closure hence avoiding discharge of dispensing gas into the ambient atmosphere. Another special feature of the DSI NDH is the one-piece probe. Optionally the CO2 connection can be provided with a pressure relief valve. Both beer and gas connections are available with different types of threads. Overall height and the O-rings used are according to standard. The price shall not exceed the price for a stainless steel dispense head

For simple maintenance, each dispense head is delivered with a dismounting tool however no tools or fit-up aids are needed for assembling the NDH.

Further components for all established fitting systems and well-type and triangular dispense heads are in the making and shall be released in due time.
