Lion Nathan builds a swanky AUD 215 million brewery
Lion Nathan has chosen a site in one of Auckland’s industrial suburbs for its new EUR 130 million brewery.
The Sydney-based brewer, in which Japanese brewery Kirin Holdings has a 46.1 percent stake, said it had secured the site - subject to approval by the Overseas Investment Office.
The new Auckland facility was expected to be up and running in about four years, Lion said.
In July, we reported that Lion Nathan had entered into an agreement to sell its Auckland brewery site in Newmarket, nowadays a posh area of the city, to AMP Capital Investors for AUD 140 million (EUR 84 million).
Most of the sale price will be payable when Lion Nathan leaves the site in about four years, but AUD 43 million (EUR 26 million) would be realised this financial year.
