The success story continues
A total of 274 brewing experts from 36 countries in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas attended the ninth Bangkok Brewing Conference, which took place June 8–10, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand. This year’s technical excursion took participants to Lao Brewery in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The event was once again jointly organized by the Thailand Beer Industry Guild (TBIG) and VLB Berlin.
In its 9th edition, the conference focused on balancing knowledge transfer with professional exchange among participants, with a strong emphasis on the brewing industry in Southeast Asia. The new venue, Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok, was selected to provide a seamless connection to ProPak Asia, which took place at the same exhibition center.
The conference opened on Monday with the first technical sessions. Under the theme “Matters of Why”, experts from the brewing industry and academia presented and discussed approaches to meeting current and future challenges in the sector. The first conference day concluded with a scenic boat trip through Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River, followed by an exclusive dinner at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Center. The evening program was kindly supported by Platinum Sponsor Ziemann Holvrieka.
On Tuesday, the technical sessions continued with presentations addressing both established processes and new opportunities for optimization. Several contributions demonstrated that even processes long regarded as mature still offer significant potential for innovation, particularly when conventional approaches are reviewed from a fresh technical perspective.
The Bangkok Brewing Conference 2026 concluded on Wednesday with a technical excursion to Lao Brewery in Vientiane, Lao PDR. A group of 75 participants was warmly welcomed by Managing Director Henrik Juel Andersen and his team. In an informative presentation, the company shared insights into the development, opportunities, and specific challenges of the beer market in Laos. A tour of the brewing facility and a joint dinner completed the visit.
VLB Berlin would like to thank Lao Brewery for its exceptional hospitality, Boon Rawd Brewery, and all sponsoring companies for their valuable support in Bangkok. Special thanks also go to the entire team of the Thailand Beer Industry Guild for the excellent local organization.
The Bangkok Brewing Conference is a joint project of the Thailand Beer Industry Guild and VLB Berlin. First held in this constellation in 2009, the event has developed into an important meeting place for the brewing industry in Southeast Asia.
The next Bangkok Brewing Conference is planned for June 2028.
