Pentawards 2014 winners announced

This 8th edition of Pentawards®, the first worldwide competition devoted exclusively to Packaging Design, chaired by Gérard Caron, received over 1500 entries from 5 continents and 53 countries. Despite the global economic crisis and the widespread cost reduction that goes with it, the Pentawards show an increase of nearly 7% in enrollment over the previous year. The international jury announced its 2014 winners at the Trophy Ceremony in October in Tokyo.

The prestigious Diamond Pentaward, 2014 Best of Show, was won by the Danone group for the design of the Pure Drop mini bottles of evian water created by the French agency Grand Angle. By inventing "The Drop" evian achieved the feat of bringing innovation to all three areas: format, packaging design or distribution methods. "The Drop" is exclusively available in Paris, London and Geneva.

Besides the Diamond Pentaward, the international jury awarded five special prizes, one per category. The Beverages Platinum went to the four million Absolut Originality bottles created by Happytear (Sweden). Taking inspiration from traditional Swedish glass crafts, every bottle of this limited edition has a drop of cobalt blue infused into its glass.

In addition, the international jury also awarded 50 Gold Pentawards among the 55 categories competing this year. Silver and Bronze Pentawards were also presented. In total, 28 countries are represented among the winners.
