John I. Haas mourns the death of Henry von Eichel
Henry von Eichel, Chief Executive Officer of John I. Haas passed away mid August shortly after his 64th birthday at his home in Austria. In his obituary, Alexander Barth, President John I Haas, praised his valuable service to the company: “His presence inspired those around him and his vibrant personality created close relationships around the world.”
Henry joined John I. Haas shortly after the company became part of the Barth-Haas Group in 1977. He became CEO in 1992 and led the company until 2008, when he was forced to take a medical leave of absence. He retained his chief executive function and remained active in the background, allowing a seamless change of guard to take place.
“The success that John I. Haas now enjoys is based on Henry’s sense for hop business and his vision of what a company can do for its customers, suppliers and employees”, says Alexander Barth.
