Boston Beer appoints former Uber manager to its board

USA | How to market stuff to tech-happy Millennials? Ask someone from Uber, the ride-hailing firm. Better, still, appoint a former Uber manager to your board. The Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams) just did that and in March 2019 appointed Meghan V. Joyce as an independent Director with immediate effect.

Ms Joyce, 34, seems ideally suited for a directorship. Her CV ticks all the right boxes. With an MBA from Harvard she worked as a management consultant for Bain, before moving into the public sector as Senior Policy Advisor for the US Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. After that she worked for Uber for six years, where she was first put in charge of Boston, next the East Coast and finally (2017-2019) the US and Canada cities. 

Jim Koch, Founder and Chairman of Boston Beer, said: “Meghan’s significant accomplishments and extensive experience in consumer recruitment and engagement, and using new technologies to reach audiences that align with our drinkers, will add significant depth to the Board as we grow our business, product portfolio, customer base, and employee base. We look forward to her insights and guidance.”
