Trumer Pils wins Gold – again

No, it’s not called a hattrick but the Trumer Brauerei is certainly aiming for it. At the World Beer Cup 2008 Trumer Pils was awarded a gold medal for Best German-Style Pilsner. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Trumer Pils following the Gold medal win at the World Beer Cup competition in 2006.

“The close collaboration with our brewing colleagues in Salzburg has resulted in this wonderful achievement”, says Trumer Brauerei Berkeley Brewmaster Lars Larson. “It’s truly gratifying to see how Trumer Pils’ entrepreneurial association between our two breweries is helping define the classic pilsner style in America.”

Opened in 2004, the Trumer Brauerei Berkeley is the sister brewery to the 400 year old Trumer Brauerei Salzburg. The two breweries are committed to brewing the highest quality pilsner on both continents. Trumer Pils results from a unique partnership of two family-owned companies: Privatbrauerei Josef Sigl and The Gambrinus Company.

Immediately after the announcement, Carlos Alvarez, owner of the Gambrinus Company, travelled to Salzburg to present the gold medal win to Josef Sigl, owner of the Trumer Brauerei Salzburg.

It is interesting to note that it is always the Trumer Brauerei Berkeley that enters its beer at the World Beer Cup because at Salzburg they mostly package their beer in kegs and it is bottled beer that they want at the competition.

Last time they won the gold medal at the World Beer Cup, they put up a poster in downtown San Francisco, their core market, saying “Das beste Pilsner Bier der Welt.” What will they do this time? Photo: Trumer Brauerei
