Carlsberg’s CEO to retire as the brewer faces a challenging year
Denmark | Carlsberg’s CEO, Cees ‘t Hart, 64, has decided to step down by the end of September at the latest, the Danish brewer announced on 7 March. The Dutchman has led Carlsberg for the past eight years. Carlsberg said that the search for a successor has begun.
“Since Cees took the helm of Carlsberg, the company has been significantly strengthened, demonstrated by its strong financial, strategic, organisational and societal health,” the company said.
The brewer has, however, been hit by the conflict in Ukraine: taking the “difficult but unavoidable decision” last year to divest its Russian business, where it had previously enjoyed a number two market position.
Mr Hart will stay on to see through the sale of the Russian brewer Baltika before transitioning to non-executive roles.
“I wish already now to take the opportunity to thank all employees, customers, partners and stakeholders for the collaboration, trust and joint successes. I wish Carlsberg and all its great people the very best for the future,” he said.
