BrewDog opens beer garden in Berlin
Germany | After an extensive refurbishment, BrewDog will open the restaurant and beer garden at the former Stone brewery in Berlin on 10 August 2019. The Scottish brewer took over the business and the workforce from Stone in April this year.
Following the soft opening, a grand opening party for neighbours and visitors will be held on 8 September 2019. On the day before, BrewDog will host its “Equity for Punks” European General Meeting at the brewery. There are currently over 100,000 investors in BrewDog.
The launch parties for BrewDog’s DogTapBerlin, as the venue will be called, are both free of charge. However, investors attending the European General Meeting will have to pay 10 EUR to reserve their seats, which will be reimbursed as beer vouchers on the day of the event.
Unlike Stone, BrewDog is not out to antagonise German punters by only serving craft-forward beers. James Watt, one of BrewDog’s founders, has already announced that “to celebrate the launch of our DogTapBerlin and the country’s great brewing tradition, we will be brewing our own line of German beer styles – with four varieties.”
Mr Watt also told the German journalist Ferdinand Dyck that he hopes to eventually establish eight to ten bars in Germany. At the moment, BrewDog only has two bars: one in Berlin and one in Hamburg.
