Molson Coors’ Tesco account manager leaves for BrewDog
United Kingdom – Don’t be fooled by BrewDog’s public image: The Scottish punk brewer is run like a very tight ship. While founders Martin Dickie and James Watt grab the headlines with their publicity stunts, former drinks industry figures control the corporate organisation.
Stuart Harrison, a five-year key account manager at Molson Coors UK, is the latest to join BrewDog. He has taken up the role of grocer account controller for Tesco and Sainsbury’s, two of the UK’s major supermarket chains, the trade publication The Grocer reported on 13 June 2019.
According to The Grocer, Mr Harrison follows other senior drinks industry figures. In recent months, David Gates, formerly Managing Director of Diageo Futures, was recruited to lead BrewDog’s spirits arm; the former Red Bull UK chief Andy Shaw became BrewDog’s CEO of beer; and Dan Bolton, previously Managing Director at Hi-Spirits UK & Ireland, joined BrewDog as director of sales. In April, BrewDog hired Dominic Neary, the finance director of Just Eat, an online food order and delivery service, as its CFO.
Mr Harrison was quoted as saying that the idea of working with BrewDog’s newly bolstered commercial team was “very appealing”.
