34,500 visitors remain loyal to BRAU Beviale despite rail strike and snow
A rail strike and a blizzard marked the start of BRAU Beviale 2007 in Nuremberg (14 to 16 November), but this did not deter the 34,500 or so trade visitors (2006: 36,260) from attending this year’s most important international capital goods exhibition for the beverage industry.
The share of international visitors rose in both percentage and absolute terms. 28 percent of visitors came from Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Italy and other growth markets in central and eastern Europe to get some information on beverage raw materials, technologies, logistics and marketing from the 1,416 exhibitors (2006: 1,437).
Walter Hufnagel, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse, has every reason to be pleased: “BRAU Beviale 2007 proved its real strength and stability. The autumn get-together for the European beverage industry impressively withstood the bad combination of rail strike and the onset of winter. This definite commitment of the international experts is a big compliment for our exhibitors!”
Industry get-together in Nuremberg: seeing and being seen
According to the result of a survey by an independent pollster 97 percent of the visitors whose background was brewing and malting (48%), soft drinks bottling (15%), dairy production, winemaking, hotel and catering industries as well as suppliers to the brewing and beverage industry were thoroughly satisfied with the products on display.
Withstanding strike and bad weather, 49 percent of the German visitors at the exhibition came from Bavaria.
Apart from displaying a comprehensive range of products, BRAU Beviale 2007 offered a wealth of extra know how in seminars, at the Exhibitors Forum or on the hot topic of energy. The “energy” theme pavilion, organised by NürnbergMesse in cooperation with the Brewery Research and Training Institute (VLB) of Berlin, attracted more than 15,000 people interested in issues ranging from energy production, purchasing, renewable energy, cost-cutting potentials and energy recovery to emission trading.
The next BRAU Beviale will be held in Nuremberg from 12 to 14 November 2008.
