The Barth Haas Grant for students of brewing science

The Barth Haas Group, the leading vertically-integrated player in the hop industry, announces the introduction of the Barth Haas Grant. With these grants the Group wants to support research activities that focus on the use of hops and hop products in all kinds of brewing applications.

Starting in 2007 the Group will award each year four grants of 2000 € to support eligible diploma thesis and three grants of 700 € to support eligible term papers which focus on the relevance of hops and hop products in terms of brewing applications. The time range for research and composing the thesis should not exceed nine months, for papers not more than five months.

Each proposal has to include a description of the research idea, the status of current research in this respect, objective (s) and the benefits to the brewing and hops industry benefits (max. length 2 pages). The applicant also should indicate the correspondent research institute and the project leader/supervisor.

The Jury will consist of the Managing Partners and the scientific board of the Barth Haas Group. The announcement of the chosen grants, including topic and picture of the winners, will be placed on the Groups’ website, in relevant journals and the Barth Report in June of each year, starting 2007.

The Barth Haas Group is curious about the new ideas in terms of hop focused research. Maybe there will be an answer to questions a lot of brewers always wanted to learn! The Group will try to give all kind of feedback needed from the industry side for the course of the projects.
