John Harvey was awarded the Order of Australia

Brauwelt International is pleased to announce that in the 2007 Australian Honours List our correspondent John Harvey from Adelaide was awarded the medal in the general section of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday announcement on 11 June 2007.

The award was for services to the brewing industry and to the community through Rotary International.

The Order of Australia is an order of chivalry established by Queen Elizabeth II on 14 February 1975 “for the purpose of according recognition to Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service”.

John Harvey is well known to members of the Australian and New Zealand section of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. He was one of the founding brewers when the section was inaugurated in 1953 and he has remained an active member to the present day. Over the years he has held positions as Secretary, Treasurer and Editor. He is a Life member. His wife Margaret was recently made an honorary Life Member for her work for the section in assisting John.

John’s award is very well deserved. On behalf of the editorial staff of Brauwelt International and all our readers: Congratulations, John!
