New name for Independent Liquor

Independent Distillers Group is the new name of the former New Zealand-based Independent Liquor operation.

Late last year, a joint venture involving two private equity partners acquired the operation for AUD 1.26 billion. The company’s brewery at Laverton, south of Melbourne, continues to brew the Haagen beer brands, having lost the contract to brew Carlsberg. That contract went to Foster’s, which started to brew, market and distribute Carlsberg beer brands in July.
