SAB’s beer operations unaffected by strike

The union has rejected ABI’s offer of an across-the-board 7.8 percent pay increase, which the company said marks an increase of 8.3 percent including benefits and is well above the current consumer inflation rate in the country of 5.8 percent.

SAB said it does not anticipate any impact the strike could have on operations going forward. The management teams of both SAB and ABI have put in place strong contingency plans to ensure the least amount of disruption to both businesses, the company said.

Further negotiations between the company and the union will be facilitated by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.
