Africa – endless possibilities
The conference’s theme is well-chosen. The Sub-Saharan Africa’s economy will probably expand 3.8 percent this year as the global recession eases, though export demand may wane in the second half of the year, according to the World Bank.
This still bodes well for brewers and beverage producers operating in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Growth in the world’s poorest region will probably accelerate from about 0.9 percent in 2009 and reach 4.6 percent next year, the Washington-based lender said in its Global Economic Prospects report published in January 2010.
South Africa, the continent’s biggest economy, will probably expand 2 percent in 2010 and 2.7 percent in 2011.
