75th plenary meeting of MEBAK in Linz
At BrauUnion Austria`s invitation the 75th general meeting of Mitteleuropäische Brautechnische Analysekommision (MEBAK) took place in Linz on 16 April 2010.
The work on the new editions of “Würze, Bier, Biermischgetränke”(formerly Volume II) and “Gebinde und Produktausstattungsmittel” (Volume V) of MEBAKS` collections of methods was continued in 2009, publication is planned for 2010.
Additionally, the guidelines for dispensing equipment and the analytic consultance concerning the evaluation of filtration lines will also be completed 2010.
The rating of inline-measuring systems is near completion, while the revision of the guidelines for brewhouses already exists in print.
A novelty is the publication of the MEBAK-methods in English, starting with the volume “Water”, which has been available as hardcover since 2009. An English version of further volumes like ”Würze, Bier, Biermischgetränke” and “Gebinde und Produktausstattungsmittel” is planned.
So much for the work of MEBAK president Dr. Heinz-Michael Anger and Dr. August Gresser so far.
After six years of heading MEBAK Dr. Heinz-Michael Anger and Dr. August Gresser now step down as president and vice president.
The unanimous election results at the general meeting in Linz were as follows:
President: Dr.-Ing. Fritz Jacob, Technical Director, Research Center Weihenstephan for Brewing and Food Quality of the Technical University of Munich;
Vice President: Dr.-Ing. Gerd Bender, Production Director, Technology and Development, Karlsberg brewery, Homburg-Saar;
Treasurer: Dr. Gerold Reil, Institute of Chemical-Technical Analyses, TUM Freising-Weihenstephan;
Secretary: Dr. Martin Zarnkow, Institute of Brewing- and Beverage Technology, TU-München Freising-Weihenstephan.
Because of his outstanding merits for MEBAK Dr. Martin Zarnkow was recommended as honorary chairman by Dr. Heinz-Michael Anger and unanimously appointed by the assembly
The next general meeting of MEBAK will take place at invitation of Feldschlösschen Brewery in Rheinfelden (CH) on 15 October 2010.
