ICBD celebrates 25th anniversary

The International Centre of Brewing and Distilling (ICBD) was inaugurated at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 1988. A series of events will take place in 2014 to celebrate the anniversary, such as an industry conference, special lectures and beer competitions.

The commemoration year started off with a packed lecture theatre in the University’s Postgraduate Centre last November, where Alex Speers, Director of the ICBD since May 2013, talked about the future plans of the world’s largest brewing school outside of China.

Today, the University has reached record enrolments and is helped along by government funding for post-graduate training. The students come from all over the world, mostly from the UK, the USA and Canada. In addition to teaching, the ICBD also offers analytical services and research consultancy.
