European Beer Star 2025 – Jury convenes in early August

Nuremberg | At the beginning of August, the Nuremberg Exhibition Center will once again be transformed into a place to see, smell and taste. The European Beer Star 2025 will once again be looking for the best beers in the world.

The jury consists of 150 international beer experts. “We are very proud of our international beer judges. Experts from all over the world come together on these two days and contribute their expertise to the European Beer Star tasting. It feels like a big family reunion every year,” says Kilian Kittl, Managing Director of the Association Private Brauereien Bayern and Competition Director of the European Beer Star.

Around 2200 beers will take part in this year's competition. At the tasting on August 7 and 8 at the exhibition grounds in Nuremberg, the beer samples submitted will be tested by 150 tasters. The evaluation criteria are purely sensory: Appearance, aroma, taste and typical varietal characteristics. The competition is tough. After several rounds of tasting, only the best three beers in each of the 72 categories are awarded gold, silver and bronze.

“The only thing that counts in the European Beer Star is the quality of the beers. The size of a brewery is completely irrelevant. With the European Beer Star, we want to showcase the skills of brewers worldwide and celebrate international beer diversity,” Kittl continues. The Winners’ Night following the award ceremony illustrates this impressively. The winners of the European Beer Star 2025 can be sampled in a glamorous atmosphere at what is probably the “world's most prestigious beer bar”.
