European Beer Star 2023: Registration ends 12 July
European Beer Star | In its 20th edition, the European Beer Star once again proves its importance for the international brewing industry. Breweries interested in taking part at the competition have time until 12 July 2023 to register their beers in order to compete with the world's best breweries.
“At the midpoint of the registration phase, we have already received applications from 35 countries. This makes the European Beer Star truly a world championship of beers,” says a delighted Kilian Kittl, European Beer Star Project Manager at the Association Private Brauereien.
The beer samples submitted will then be tasted on 14 and 15 September at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. During the two-day tasting, the expert jury, consisting of highly qualified tasters from a total of 31 countries, will decide on gold, silver and bronze in over 70 categories based solely on sensory criteria. “In addition, participating breweries can use the feedback from our international experts as well as the flavor profile individually created for each beer submitted for benchmarking as part of quality assurance,” says Kilian Kittl.
The successful beers will be awarded on 29 November during BrauBeviale in Nuremberg – for the first time right in the middle of the exhibition. “We want to transport the joy and emotion of the award ceremony into the exhibition halls and make it a tangible experience for all visitors of the trade show,” explains Stefan Stang, Managing Director of the Association of Private Breweries in Bavaria.
Future Award
After its premiere last year, the European Beer Star Future Award is also going into its next round. With this award, the Association Private Brauereien has been honoring breweries for their sustainable commitment since 2022. In accordance with the pillars of sustainability – ecological, economic, social, and cultural –, awards are given to breweries that also manage to combine their sustainable corporate culture with top beer quality.
Participation in the Future Award is possible at no additional cost for breweries participating in the European Beer Star. Already during the registration process, breweries can express their interest in participating in the Future Award and thus show their sustainable commitment.
