Environmental impact of hop varieties
Research and Development | Sustainable agriculture is understood as the respectful use of limited natural resources, thus securing the economic basis of existence. The main resources used are farmable land, water, nutrients, energy and labor.
Through our recent sustainability study, which measured CO2 emissions per variety, we successfully tracked and identified the environmental impact of hops. Based on these results, hop varieties such as Lotus, Sultana and Altus offer the highest production yield with the lowest environmental impact.
Advantages of Hopsteiner varieties:
- higher productivity per hectar
- less input of resources per kg hops
- higher tolerance level against climate change and diseases
- reliable and constant production also in hot and dry crop years
