New Managing Director for AB-InBev Germany

Germany | AB-InBev’s revolving doors are spinning faster, while top personnel is getting younger. After only seven months at the helm of AB-InBev Germany, Florian Weins, 35, has left the firm at the end of October to spend more time with his family. He is succeeded by Michel Pepa, 30, a Belgian.

It appeared as if AB-InBev had Mr Weins groomed for increasingly responsible roles. Before joining AB-InBev Germany, Mr Weins had led AB-InBev’s Tenerife unit Compañía Cervecera de Canarias for more than three years.

Diebels and Hasseröder will not be sold

During his time in Bremen, he oversaw the momentous decision not to continue with the sale of the Diebels and Hasseröder breweries. After years of decline, they sell about 2 million hl beer combined. The two breweries had been put on the block in 2017. Protracted sales proceedings came to nothing because the buyer could not meet AB-InBev’s price, reportedly EUR 70 million.

Mr Weins’ successor, Michel Pepa, was installed on 1 November 2019. At AB-InBev’s headquarters in Belgium he was responsible for revenue management in the German, Belgian and Luxembourg markets. Mr Pepa is an alumni of the University of Leuven. Unmarried and with no children, Mr Pepa is said to be looking for an apartment in Bremen.

“We are pleased to have appointed a colleague for this position, Michel Pepa, who can further drive the growth targets for the German business,” AB-InBev said.
