Joh. Barth & Sohn becomes BarthHaas

Germany | Business objectives have changed, new companies have been added, but the name Joh. Barth & Sohn has remained unaltered for over 200 years. Time for new name. As of November 2019, the company will be called BarthHaas.

The move affects all of Barth’s companies in Europe and Asia, namely Barth-Haas UK, Barth-Haas Beijing, Barth-Haas Hong Kong, Simply Hops, Barth Innovations! and the Barth-Haas Hops Academy.

The three shareholders and managing directors Alexander, Regine and Stephan Barth explained the decision by saying: “With the new brand, we can create a unified roof for our companies in Europe and Asia, so that we can act in a uniform manner towards customers, suppliers, new employees and the industry.”

There is another reason for the name change. The affix “& Sohn” (English: & Son) has become an anachronism and moreover has been rendered obsolete by reality. There are plenty of women now in the owners’ families, who at some stage will be involved in the company.
