Doemens has a new board
After the turmoil of the past few months, Doemens’ new board will have to bring the prestigious German brewing school back on track.
What a year that was. Ignoring democratic principles and well-reasoned opposition to its plans, Doemens’ old guard had taken the controversial decision to relocate the Munich school to Neutraubling, the site of Krones. Little did they expect that Krones would eventually lose interest in cooperating with a Doemens school troubled by infighting and withdraw its offer.
So when the relocation plan was unilaterally cancelled by Krones in the autumn, all the board could do was to resign.
On 19 November 2007, Doemens’ members voted for a new board, which will be presided over by Georg Schneider, Managing Director of Private Weißbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH, Kelheim.
As Mr Schneider stressed in his speech, Doemens fulfils an important function for medium-sized breweries. as it is one of the only places worldwide where brewers with a full range of skills are trained.
