Demolition bomb hovers over Scottish & Newcastle’s headquarters

Fears are growing for the future of Scottish & Newcastle’s Edinburgh headquarters, following the agreement of a GBP 7.8 billion takeover.

What is Heineken going to do with S&N’s St Andrew Square head office where around 100 staff, mostly high-flying executives, are based? Once Heineken and Carlsberg have broken up S&N, Heineken will not have much use for S&N’s corporate headquarters. With S&N gone, any place in the UK could serve as a regional headquarter for Heineken.

It is widely believed that around 900 production jobs - 600 jobs at Broadway Park in the Gyle and around 300 posts at the Livingston call centre – are secure.

But the chances of S&N’s international headquarter staying in the Scottish capital once the company falls into foreign hands were said to be “slim”.
