Latest World Beer Rankings
The announcement that InBev and Anheuser-Busch are to combine will create a new leader in the global beer industry. With sales volume of over 370 mhl (pro forma 2007, beer only, not including equity volume), the new entity will be comfortably the world’s largest brewing group.
It also sees InBev swiftly regain the number 1 spot, that SABMiller had recently
taken, according to Plato Logic’s 2007 data. Anheuser-Busch had themselves held
the number one position for many years, before being overtaken by both InBev and
SABMiller, as well as Heineken, during the recent round of industry consolidation.
The new group’s market share will be approximately 21%, pro forma 2007. The
world beer market grew by more than 5% in 2007, to reach 1775 mhl (source: Plato
Logic, latest projections).
