Concise Course in Brewing Technology

Designed and presented by some of the industry’s most experienced educators, the two-week WBA Concise Course provides students with comprehensive training in brewing technical theory, the dynamics of brewery operations, and the science behind the creation of consistently excellent beer.

The content mix of the Concise Course deals with each of the key areas of brewing technology including:

* Raw materials: Malt, adjuncts, hops, water, yeast

* Brewhouse operations & wort production

* Yeast management, fermentation & maturation

* Biological control, QC/QA issues

* Brewery CIP, cleaning, waste management

* Filtration, carbonation, oxygen control

* Packaging, valves, pumps

Within the short time span of this course, students will gain a level of industry knowledge that will benefit them in any area of responsibility in the brewery, covering every topic critical to successful brewery operations.

WBA says that this is an ideal course for those pursuing broader knowledge of the brewing process in order to improve their skills and advance in their brewing careers, and it is an excellent choice for those working towards the General Certificate and Diploma exams of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.

When not in class, students can visit Munich. Munich is steeped in the tradition of hundreds of years of brewing, offering students an experience that is as enjoyable as it is educational.

“Spring in Munich”, writes Keith Lemcke of the WBA, “is the perfect time to visit as the mild weather allows the trees to fill out, flowers to bloom and beer gardens to open for the enjoyment of tourists and locals alike.”

(Well, Keith you do have a way with words. You would have made a great romantic poet.)
