Carlsberg Germany raises beer sales
Carlsberg Germany has sold about 6 million hl of beer in 2006, that is an increase of 2.1 percent over 2005.
Carlsberg Germany, which is the result of the takeover of Germany’s Holsten Group by Carlsberg and the subsequent sale of some of Holsten’s fillet parts to Bitburger, claims that the 2.1 percent increase is a success as the market only grew 0.6 percent. The brewer also claims that its financials looked better than in the past but would not release any figures.
In Germany Carlsberg focuses on the brands Carlsberg, Duckstein, Holsten and Lübzer which rose 4.6 percent in volume last year.
Although Carlsberg Germany lost a lot of export volume due to internal group reshufflings, which made volumes in Germany declined to 850.000 hl (2005: 1.8 million hl), Carlsberg argues that the restructurings still made a positive contribution to its bottom line.
