Carlsberg sells water brands to The Coca-Cola Company
Some way to finance the takeover of Scottish & Newcastle. At the end of June Danish brewer Carlsberg said that it had sold two mineral water brands in Denmark to Coca-Cola as part of a broader deal with a total sale price of USD 225 million.
As part of the deal, Coca-Cola acquires Carlsberg´s mineral water brands Kildevæld and Kurvand in Denmark and also enters into a licensing agreement regarding Ramlösa in Denmark. Ramlösa is one of Sweden´s most popular mineral water brands. Ramlösa has 1,200 employees in Sweden and has been extracting water from the Ramlösa spring near Helsingborg for 300 years. Ramlösa mineral water sells 54 million litres per year to 17 countries.
In Finland, The Coca-Cola Company, under the same agreement, acquires the soft drink brand Hyvää Päivää and enters into a licensing agreement regarding the energy drink Battery. Battery is Finland´s first and most popular energy drink. It was launched on the Finnish market in 1997 by Finnish brewer Sinebrychoff (now owned by Carlsberg) and is sold in 35 countries around the world.
