AB-InBev’s unit CUB moves to new much smaller headquarters

Australia | Australia’s major brewer, CUB, in December 2018, moved to new digs in Southbank, Melbourne, following the sale of its old Southbank headquarters to the state government for AUD 95.5 million (USD 77 million) in January 2018.

CUB has shrunk its new office presence by more than half after signing a ten-year lease covering 6,500 square metres at Freshwater Place in February 2018, it was reported.

The move follows AB-InBev’s decision to realign its business zones. Australia is no longer AB-InBev’s Asia-Pacific hub as it was under the previous SABMiller regime. The region’s hub is now Shanghai and CUB personnel – from production to marketing – will need to report to the Chinese.

This has led to staff attrition. Over 140 CUB people left in November 2018 alone, Brauwelt International has heard.
