Vast interest in food & drink technology Africa and its co-located events

This summer, from July 9 to 11 2019, food & drink technology Africa (fdt Africa) takes place – for the first time in co-location with IFAT Africa, the leading platform for environmental technologies in sub-Saharan Africa and with analytica Lab Africa, the only analytics and laboratory trade fair in South Africa.

The trade show takes place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

fdt Africa has established itself as an important platform for the food, beverage and packaging industry in South Africa. It covers the entire process chain – from raw materials and processing, through to bottling, packaging and logistics. The co-located event brings an extensive industry overlap with the full spectrum of the technology behind food and beverage production, water, sewage, refuse and recycling, and laboratory technology, analysis, biotechnology and diagnostics.

The co-location brings benefits to visitors and exhibitors alike. Joerg Thomas, Managing Director of KHS Manufacturers South Africa, clearly sees the growing environmental awareness that impacts all industry sectors. In his opinion, consumers were increasingly aware of the environmental impact of packaging, calling for less single use packaging and more recyclable packaging to be used in products. He thinks that key issues likely to feature prominently at fdt Africa 2019, were manufacturing efficiencies, total cost of ownership, and the reduction and recyclability of packaging material.

Suzette Scheepers, CEO of Messe München South Africa, agrees: “Eco friendliness and the reduction of single use packaging has become a top of mind issue among consumers around the world. At the same time, global manufacturers are pressured to innovate, bring more variety to the market, and to do so more efficiently and cost-effectively.”

With over 150 exhibitors already confirmed to join the full co-location, it is no wonder that fdt Africa has received vast interest – both nationally and internationally. With country pavilions from Austria, China, Germany, and India, exhibitors from these countries make their footprint into the South African market. The co-located trade shows bring in higher interest and investment into the trade fair, proving that the fdt Africa brand continues to grow from strength to strength into the South African market.
